Program Series: Music Film
Trondheim is one of the most exciting places in the country for anyone interested in music. We have a range of concert venues, exciting festivals, and countless enthusiasts dedicated to making our city an even better music hub. As a tribute to everyone who lives and breathes music, we have put together a program series consisting of music films about influential artists, bands, and trends in the music world. Joining us in this endeavor is one of the city's major music institutions: Rockheim - The National Museum of Popular Music. Together, we have selected five different films that shed light on how music shapes our lives.

Soundtrack to a coup d’etat
We are in 1960s Congo, where Patrice Lumumba serves as the country’s first prime minister after gaining independence from Belgian colonial rule. The liberation has brought political turmoil, and control over the nation’s natural resources is at stake. With jazz musicians as their weapon, the U.S. sends its biggest stars to calm the situation—but it’s only a distraction. Behind the scenes, a CIA-backed coup is underway.
The screening on Wednesday at 18:00 will be introduced by Jazzfest.
The screening on Sunday at 12:15 will be introduced by Kristian Krokfoss from Rockheim.

B-movie: Lust & Sound in West-Berlin
Manchester in the late '70s was a dump. At least, that's how Mark Reeder portrays his hometown in B-Movie: Lust & Sound in West-Berlin. After discovering German electronic music at the record store where he worked, Mark spontaneously decided to move to West Berlin to meet his musical heroes.
The screenings on Friday at 20:30 and Saturday at 20:30 will be introduced by Mark Reeder, followed by a Q&A with him in the theater after the screening.
The screening on Sunday at 10:00 will also be introduced by Mark Reeder.

HVA VI SNAKKER OM NÅR VI SNAKKER OM MUSIKK
What is it about music that affects people in such a unique way? This is one of several questions director Mats Andersen seeks to answer in his documentary Hva vi snakker om når vi snakker om musikk. Through interviews with some of the country's leading artists, including Aurora, Kjartan Kristiansen, and Dum Dum Boys, we gain insight into what music means to them and its impact. Andersen also turns to science to understand what makes music so magical.
The screenings on Friday at 16:00 and Sunday at 15:30 will be introduced by Bjørnar Bruket from Rockheim.
After the screening on Saturday at 15:30 there will be a talk with director Mats Andersen and musician Nora Kulset about the movie in the theatre.

Pavements
Step into Pavement's world of 'don't care' garage rock. The band has been making strange and exciting music since the early '90s, and after more than 30 years, they have an extensive catalog under their belt. In the documentary about the legendary band, we get a glimpse into both their past and future.
The screening on Tuesday at 17:30 will be introduced by Morten Haugdahl from Rockheim.

My Way
Most of us are familiar with Sinatra's version of the song My Way, but this is actually just a fraction of the song's history. Although the song may have gained fame through Sinatra or Paul Anka, it has a past and a future that include a number of exciting individuals and stories from both the crooner era and up to the present day.
