Robot Dreams

New York in the 1980s: A lonely dog spends time alone in his apartment. The TV keeps him company as he eats microwave meals. An advertisement for a brand-new robot model appears on the screen, and the dog promptly places an order. The package is delivered at the door, and eager paws put the robot parts together. Finally, the dog has found a lifelong companion! Their friendship seems unbreakable, but one day, the dog is forced to leave the robot on a beach. Will they ever reunite?

One of the strangest films at this year's festival revolves around the curious schoolgirl Dong Chun, who happens to find a bottle of rice wine at a summer camp. She takes a sip home, and soon discovers that the wine bubbles and makes sounds that couldn't possibly be related to normal fermentation. Could it be true that the mysterious rice wine is trying to communicate with her? And does it know more about the world than humans do?

DAAAAALI!

A young French journalist is set to interview none other than Salvador Dali. The purpose is to create a documentary about the iconic artist but attempt after attempt fails miserably. The numerous encounters with Dali are woven together with dreams and alternative realities.

Tip: Daaaaali! is being screened at Kosmorama together with director Quentin Dupieux's previous film, Yannick. Both of these can be viewed consecutively on Monday, Thursday and Saturday during the festival.

In the middle of a theater performance, one of the audience members has had enough. Yannick interrupts the entire show and tells both the actors and the rest of the audience that he finds the play extremely boring. Armed with a revolver and bad behavior, he takes the entire audience hostage and sets his own terms for what the evening should entail.
Tip: Yannick is being screened at Kosmorama together with director Quentin Dupieux's latest film, Daaaaali! Both of these can be viewed consecutively on Monday, Thursday and Saturday during the festival.

Hundreds of beavers

In a frostbitten place in America, sometime in the 19th century, apple farmer and moonshiner Jean Kayak experiences a catastrophe when his orchard and distillery are ravaged by humanity's worst enemies: beavers! Drunk on his own moonshine, he must now become a legendary trapper and battle hundreds – possibly thousands – of naughty beavers. This is an even more significant battle than you might think, as it fundamentally might be about who will dominate our beloved world: Humanity or the beaver kingdom.
