Regional premiere // Portrett av en forvirret far

Welcome to the Trondheim premiere of Portrett av en forvirret far at Kosmorama on Tuesday, March 3 at 17:30!
Director and participant Gunnar Hall Jenssen will attend the premiere and take part in a conversation in the auditorium after the film.

About the film:

No father–son relationship is the same, and this story stands out in particular. Over the course of 20 years, director and father Gunnar Hall Jensen documents his son’s upbringing — from infancy until a brutal and tragic event changes everything.

How can one be a good father? Is there a formula? Gunnar himself grew up without a father and instead turned to Roald Amundsen in search of a masculine role model. He tries to navigate fatherhood as best he can, makes some awkward missteps along the way, and gradually allows his son to take more responsibility for his own life. But his son’s ambitions and thirst for adventure lead him into a dangerous world, far beyond his father’s control.

This remarkable and powerful story shows how life can suddenly change course — in ways that are both unexpected and unforgiving. Although the film is an intimate and personal portrait of one family, it speaks to something universal about fatherhood and masculinity in our time.

The film won the Student Jury Award from both lower and upper secondary school juries at Kosmorama 2026.

In addition to the screening on Tuesday, March 3 at 5:30 PM in Prinsen 6, the film will also be shown:

  • Wednesday, March 4 at 3:00 PM in Prinsen 6

  • Thursday, March 5 at 5:45 PM in Prinsen 2
