Samia
Samia, a young girl from Mogadishu, Somalia, has one passion: she loves to run! From an early age, she races through the streets of Mogadishu, despite the fact that the country’s fundamentalist regime forbids women from running.
Her talent is recognized, and at the 2008 Olympics, she competes in the 200-meter race for her country—wearing borrowed shoes. This moment captures worldwide attention, making her a symbol of women’s struggle for the freedom to shape their own lives and pursue their dreams.
Upon returning home, the threats from the fundamentalist group al-Shabaab grow increasingly severe. They disapprove of her defying their restrictions on women and being celebrated globally for it. Determined to follow her dream, Samia embarks on a journey to continue running—a journey that proves fateful.
The film is based on the true story of Samia Yusuf Omar and inspired by Giuseppe Catozzella’s critically acclaimed novel Don’t Tell Me You’re Afraid.

Onkel Jens
What do you do when an uncle you haven’t seen in years shows up at your door in the middle of the night?
Norwegian teacher Akam is forced to confront himself and his own cultural identity when he reluctantly lets his uncle "Jens" crash on his couch—without knowing how long he plans to stay or what brought him there in the first place. As Akam’s suspicion about his uncle’s visit grows, the situation takes unexpected turns, affecting them both in ways they never imagined.
Onkel Jens is a heartwarming film about identity and family, blending humor and thought-provoking moments. Themes of second-generation immigrant experiences, culture clashes, and love are at the core of Brwa Vahabpour’s feature film debut.

Memoir of a snail
Grace Pudel loves romance novels, guinea pigs, and snails. Her life story is marked by misfortune and hardship, taking a particularly painful turn when she is separated from her twin brother Gilbert and placed in foster care.
Through her reflections, we join Grace on a journey through life’s many trials in this beautiful Australian film about self-discovery and appreciating the good things in life, no matter the circumstances. The story is brought to life through masterful stop-motion animation.
The film won the top prize at Annecy, the world’s largest animation festival, and was awarded Best Film at the BFI London Film Festival.
