Free movie-screening: Disney Pixar's Soul in Vår Frue kirke Friday June 17th

Welcome to another free movie-screening Friday June 17th at 18pm. In collaboration with Kirkens Bymisjon we will be showing Disney Pixar's Soul (2020) in the lovely Vår Frue kirke (Our Lady's Church).

The event is free, but requires that you register in the following ticket link.

What is a soul? And what is it that makes us human? That's what this beautiful Disney-film tries to explore in a philosophical level that is both mature and playful. This is a film that can be seen and understood in different ways and levels in all ages. Plus it is filled with great music by Jon Batiste, Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross for which the movie won Best Original Score at the Oscars in 2021.

Our main character Joe Gardner is a middle-aged jazzpianist working as a music teacher at a middle school in New York City. His big dream is to play alongside the famous saxophone-player Dorothea Williams at the Half Note Jazz Club in New York. When he finally comes close to making it as jazzmusician, he gets into an accident that puts an end to the life he's always dreamed of, before it even starts.

The accidents gets him into a sort of "after life-limbo", a place where souls are born and taught what they need before they get to go to Earth and be human. There Joe meets the sceptical soul 22 who refuses to be persuaded to go to Earth and live life as a human. Joe on the other hand wants more than anything to go back and finally achieve his dreams - can they help each other?

Soul is the first Pixar-movie that did not get to premiere in Cinemas and went straight to streaming on Disney+ due to the pandemic. Now you get the chance to see it on the big screen - in a particularly beautiful environment.

The film has no age-limit and will be shown in Norwegian. The duration of the film is 1h40min.

Welcome!
