Film recommendations week 20
Kosmorama recommends quality films for this week. This week we are celebrating the norwegian national day and therefore we recommend three norwegian titles on streaming platforms.
Fedrelandet
Where: Streaming
What does it mean to be connected with nature? Father knows, and father shows. The director's father is 84 years old. We follow in his footsteps into the mountain wilderness. Into the smallest aspects of nature and out to magnificent panoramas where he grew up.
Trondheimsreisen
Where: Streaming
The film is a documentary journey based on photos from Trondheim from 1906 to the 1980s. It depicts the city's and its inhabitants' passage through time, with both well-known and unknown voices narrating how the city shaped their lives. Among the storytellers are Odd Reitan, Anne B. Ragde, Liv Ullmann, and Ulf Risnes.
Behind the camera, there are also plenty of people from Trøndelag. Magnus Skatvold directed the film, with Dag Hoel as the producer. The music is composed by Kristoffer Lo and performed by the Trondheim Symphony Orchestra. Trondheimsreisen is a tribute to the city and a nostalgic gift to the entire Trondheim region.
Det grodde fram
Where: Streaming
Det grodde fram is a documentary in the style of a newsreel, made during the war and in the early post-war period. It illustrates how film was used as part of nation-building efforts in the post-war years. The film features authentic footage from the war years, documenting the behavior of the occupying forces, and also shows how the resistance movement "sprouted." It includes clips from May 8, 1945, when trains arrived with Norwegian troops and refugees from Sweden.
