Back to Black

Backtoblack

Where: Trondheim Kino

A celebration of one of the 21st century's most iconic - and most deeply missed - music stars. Back to Black tells the extraordinary story of Amy Winehouse. Painting a vivid picture of the Camden streets she called home and charting her path to global fame, Back to Black honors Amy's artistry, wit and honesty, as well as trying to understand her demons. A brave look at the music industry's "celebrity machine" and a solid tribute to a talent that you only get to experience once per generation.

The Dupes

Dupes

Hvor: Cinemateket

The Dupes is inspired by the novel Men in the Sun (1963) by writer and leader of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine Ghassan Kanafani, added to the Arab-Israeli War of 1948, the first series of armed conflicts between the then newly created Israel, Palestine and the neighboring Arab states. Director Tewfik Saleh, who himself was from Egypt, was of course also influenced by the conflicts that came later in the region.

Three Palestinian refugees are trying to get through Iraq to Kuwait, where they believe freedom and work await. The three men represent three different generations and three phases of Palestine's history. But can there be an individual happy ending to a collective crisis?
