New Directors is the competition program of Kosmorama, which is dedicated to the film makers of the future. The directors in this program are new voices in the global film scene that we believe will make a name for themselves in the following years. Hence the films in this program is not only to be good, but the directors also have to prove that they are storytellers and/or film artists with talent and distinctiveness.
The criteria is that the director has not made more than three full length films. The festival's program council has curated the nine films that the competition program consists of. Out of these, a professional jury will chose a winner of the New Directors Award.
Audience Award
In addition to the New Directors Award winner that is elected by the jury, all films in the New Directors series is eligible for Kosmorama's Audience award. Everyone who attends the screenings at the festival can share their opinion about the films through ballots available at the cinema centre. The film with the highest average score by the end of the week is pronounced winner of the Audience award.
