What We Talk About When We Talk About Music – two screenings at Cinemateket

This week, on October 30 and 31, you can enjoy a welcome return of What We Talk About When We Talk About Music at Cinemateket Trondheim!
The film was part of Kosmorama’s festival program earlier this year and is now being shown in collaboration between Kosmorama, NTNU, Mats Andersen/Rebel Unit, and Cinemateket.

This week, NTNU focuses on artistic research — exploring ways to share artistic knowledge, often by seeking the kind of language that comes from within, from the artistic practice itself.

In this documentary, director Mats Andersen sets out to discover this “inside language” by speaking with a wide range of creative and performing artists. He also meets professionals from other disciplines who bring different perspectives and vocabularies to the conversation. Together, they offer a rich entry point for understanding more about ourselves, about music, and about the power of music itself.

Screenings:

  • October 30 at 20:30
  • October 31 at 18:30 – This evening features a double screening of the feature film What We Talk About When We Talk About Music by Mats Andersen and This Lemon Tastes of Apple by Hiwa K, followed by a panel discussion on the contested cultural power of music and art, with:

Nora Bilalovic Kulset, Head of the Department of Music, NTNU
Nabil Ahmed, Professor, Academy of Fine Art / KIT, NTNU
