The curtain rises on We Will Rock You on the Main Stage at Nye Hjorten Teater on Thursday, March 5 — by then, Kosmorama 2026 will already be in full swing. As a preview, we present the explosive story of Freddie Mercury — from his first riffs with Smile to the day the unique and enigmatic Queen frontman leaves us far too early; celebrated, famous, and battling AIDS. Whether you’re a hardcore Queen fan or simply love powerful stories, this is a film experience that truly raises the roof. The Main Stage at Nye Hjorten Teater provides the film with the grand setting it deserves.

The screening is a collaboration between Kosmorama and Nye Hjorten Teater.

Before the film, there will be a pre-screening talk with Theatre Director Mads Bones and Kosmorama Festival Director Silje Engeness. The conversation will be moderated by Klaus Sonstad.

About the film:

The film follows Freddie Mercury from his time as vocalist in the band Smile, through the formation of Queen, and on to the band’s immense success. It also goes behind the scenes, exploring personal conflicts, the darker sides of the music industry, and the price of fame.

The soundtrack is, of course, packed with iconic Queen songs, turning the film into an unparalleled burst of energy. Mercury’s unique stage presence and extraordinary vocal range helped make Queen one of the most distinctive and influential rock bands of all time. Rami Malek won the Academy Award for his portrayal of one of music history’s most legendary figures.
