The film has an age rating of 15+.
About the film:
Parasite tells the story of a Korean family of four living in a run-down basement apartment in Seoul. They fold pizza boxes for a restaurant chain to make ends meet and borrow the neighbors’ internet connection with varying success. Despite their strong bond, life offers little hope—until a visit from a friend of the family’s son suddenly reveals a possible way out of their misery. With a flood of awards, including the Oscar for Best Picture as the first non-English-language film ever to win it, and enormous audience acclaim, Parasite has undoubtedly taken the world by storm—and deservedly so. Parasite is a masterful cinematic experience that portrays class divides in South Korea with precision, unpredictability, and dark humor. Alongside its biting social commentary, the film also features astonishing architecture, which can be said to play a central role in this black comedy.
With this screening, we hope to open up a conversation about a society in crisis: ever-growing inequality, the distribution of resources, and the housing structures that divide us. Of course, Parasite is also about the vicious cycle of parasitism—but who is really living off whom? The carefree yet helpless rich, living inside their transparent but impenetrable cocoon designed by a famous architect? Or those clinging to power, extracting resources, money, and opportunities while trying to climb out of inherited poverty? Everyone will draw their own conclusions. But one thing is certain: no one will leave untouched.
