This week, we're sharing 3 amazing documentaries!
You can catch these titles either on the big screen or streaming this week.
MEMORIES OF A BURNING BODY
Where: Trondheim Kino
Three Costa Rican women, aged 68 to 71, share their experiences and dreams related to sex and gender roles. They all came of age in a conservative era, where the constraints on what it meant to be a woman were stifling. Now, they speak openly about life’s brutal sorrows and intense joys, with actress Sol Carballo brilliantly bringing their experiences to life on screen.
The stories are poetically woven together by director Antonella Sudasassi Furniss, capturing a tone and sensitivity reminiscent of her debut feature, The Awakening of the Ants (Cine Latino 2020). Memories of a Burning Body serves as a cathartic experience for struggles that resonate with women worldwide. Aging can also be liberating, joyful, and filled with pleasure on many levels. The film celebrates resilience and shows that one’s sex life certainly doesn’t have to end as retirement approaches.
Trondheim Dokumentarfestival
Where: Cinemateket
Kosmorama warmly recommends the Trondheim Documentary Festival, held at Cinemateket in Trondheim from November 14 to 16. The festival features documentaries in various formats: short and feature films, still photography, radio, nonfiction, newspaper journalism, and music videos.
Our film recommendation: Fedrelandet by Margreth Olin, a touching and deeply engaging documentary, is one of the festival’s highlights!
Head to Cinemateket for a few inspiring days with documentaries from around the world.
A New Kind of Wilderness
