Demring is a feature film by Patrik Syversen, who shamelessly plays with genre elements in a way we’ve never seen before in Norwegian cinema.

The production company of The Lord of the Rings star Elijah Wood has entered into a collaboration with screenwriter and director Patrik Syversen on the feature film Demring. Wood describes Syversen as “a major new voice in international film.”

Sex, Dreams, Love

SEX still 1

Where: Cinemateket Trondheim

In connection with the conversation between Silje Engeness and Dag Johan Haugerud at Trondheim Public Library on October 21, we are, in collaboration with Cinemateket, presenting screenings of the trilogy this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday!

Sex
Two chimney sweeps surprise each other during lunch. One confesses that he recently had sex with another man, but cannot understand why his wife insists this was infidelity. The other worries about a vivid dream in which David Bowie sees him as a woman. Can their lives continue as before? Dag Johan Haugerud has established himself as one of Norway’s foremost directors, following the critically acclaimed Beware of Children, Light from the Chocolate Factory, and I Belong. Lead actors Jan Gunnar Røise and Thorbjørn Harr shine on the big screen.

Dreams
Johanne falls head over heels for her French teacher. In an attempt to preserve the intensity of her feelings, she writes down everything she experiences. When her mother and grandmother discover her writings, they are first shocked by the intimate details, then captivated by the text’s literary qualities. But what really happened between Johanne and the teacher? And could this be something that should be published as a book?

Love
This film introduces us to Marianne, a doctor, and her colleague Tor, a nurse. Neither of them is looking for a conventional relationship. One evening, on her way home by ferry after a date, Marianne encounters Tor, who spends his nights on the boat cruising for other men. When Marianne hears Tor describe the fleeting intimacy and conversations that can arise through cruising, she begins to wonder whether this could also be an option for her.
