Dancing Queen 2 in Hollywood

Where: Trondheim kino
Dancing Queen in Hollywood picks up where the first film Dancing Queen left off, with Mina and Markus heading to Los Angeles to take part in a music video.
What at first seems like a dream trip soon becomes challenging for Mina when she realizes that her parents are facing a breakup.
In the midst of the chaos, an unexpected invitation arrives for a film audition. With the support of Susan—their experienced hostess and a star of the ’90s—Mina seizes the chance to explore something new and exciting.
But the challenges don’t end there. When Mina discovers that her father is having an affair, she must deal with her own rising anxiety and heartbreak.
Dancing Queen in Hollywood is a story about friendship, courage, and finding your own path when life takes unexpected turns.

Hard Truths

Pansy has a volatile temper. Even the smallest provocation can trigger an outburst of rage, affecting everyone around her—whether close family members or strangers at the store. She lives with her husband, Curtley, and their adult son, Moses, both of whom meet Pansy’s anger with quiet resignation. She finds comfort in her close bond with her sister, Chantelle, who in many ways is her complete opposite.
Mike Leigh is a pillar of British social-realist cinema. He was hailed as a genius for Naked (1993) and Secrets & Lies (1996), later continuing with acclaimed contemporary dramas such as Happy-Go-Lucky (2008) and Another Year (2010). After making the historical epics Mr. Turner (2014) and Peterloo (2018), he returns to his signature style. Hard Truths is raw and direct, yet full of warmth and empathy.
Marianne Jean-Baptiste delivers an impressive and nuanced performance as Pansy. Behind her fiery temperament lies a deep humanity. Ultimately, Pansy herself is the most tragic figure, struggling to accept the hard truths of life.
