Back to Tottori is the sequel to Tottori! The Summer We Were Alone from 2020. The first film was very well received by both audiences and critics and won numerous awards in Norway and abroad, including the Amanda Award for Best Children’s Film.

The film follows Billie (12) and Vega (16), six years after the events of the first film. The family is falling apart, and Billie longs to rediscover the strength she and her sister once found in each other – what they called their superpower. With her father’s analogue camera as her companion, Billie sets out on a journey that becomes both physical and emotional. Along the way, she encounters people and situations that challenge her, but also give her a sense of accomplishment. She must learn to trust herself, improvise, and deal with the unexpected.

The characters are six years older than they were in Tottori! The Summer We Were Alone, and the target audience has grown with them. The film is well suited for children and young people between the ages of 8 and 14.

Trondheim Film Club invites you to a Wong Kar-wai double bill this week! See both Fallen Angels and Chungking Express on the same evening.

Fallen Angels:

A hitman, an escort, an escaped convict, and a hysterical, heartbroken woman are all trying to find their place in early-1990s Hong Kong. Each has had to navigate everyday life in their own way, giving us an insight into the different methods they use, as well as how their lives become increasingly intertwined as they are drawn into new adventures. Emotions run high, and with Wong Kar-wai’s iconic visual style, we are treated not only to stunning scenes of the city, but also drawn into another world, offering a raw and authentic portrayal of life in Hong Kong’s underground.

Chungking Express

Chungking Express is divided into two stories, both centered on two different police officers who, for different reasons, long for intimacy and a way out of their current circumstances. Each encounters an eccentric woman who enriches his life in her own way. The first police officer has just been dumped by his girlfriend and gives himself a month before accepting defeat, while the second is in an unstable relationship that eventually turns into a wild friendship with a local girl. Love is blossoming—or is it?
