Harila - Nådeløse fjell

Kristin Harila and Tenjen Lama Sherpa, two underdogs from Vadsø and Nepal, climb the world’s 14 highest mountains in record time. They make history – before facing massive resistance.
In 2023, climber Kristin Harila stunned the world when she and her climbing partner, Tenjen Lama Sherpa, climbed all 14 of the world’s highest mountains in just 92 days. Together, they achieved what many thought was impossible, cutting the previous record in half.
But what was meant to be a historic triumph was quickly overshadowed by strong reactions. An incident on K2 captured worldwide attention and sparked an international debate. Through dramatic footage never before seen, the documentary attempts to shed light on what actually happened.

Sailor Suit and Machine Gun

Schoolgirl Izumi unexpectedly inherits her father’s yakuza clan. Flattering, of course, but when she proves incapable of making the right decisions, things quickly turn into a complete disaster. The scene where she brandishes a machine gun and happily exclaims “Kaikan” (“feels fantastic”) quickly became part of Japanese pop culture, and even today, enthusiastic cries of “Kaikan!” can still be heard in various contexts.
Sailor Suit and Machine Gun is based on the novel of the same name by Jiro Akagawa. It was published by Kadokawa, which subsequently decided to adapt it into a film.
Somai received invaluable support from master cinematographer Seizô Sengen, who began his career working on Nagisa Oshima’s films Diary of a Shinjuku Thief (1969) and Boy (1969), as well as Shūji Terayama’s Throw Away Your Books, Rally Into the Streets (1971). Here, he was given almost free rein, elevating the film with his highly experimental camera work.

Shoplifters

Shoplifters is arguably Hirokazu Kore-eda’s best film to date. A warm portrayal of an unconventional family with many secrets, who must take unorthodox measures to make ends meet.
As the title suggests, Shoplifters follows a family who steals groceries to put food on the table. One day, they decide to take in a six- or seven-year-old girl who is not being properly cared for by her own parents.
