Labyrinth:
Teenage girl Sarah embarks on a life-changing quest to rescue her baby brother, who has been kidnapped by a cunning goblin in a magical world full of fantastical creatures.
Let’s keep it simple. Do you like strange creatures? Do you like refreshing and wondrous adventures? Do you like David Bowie? Or Jennifer Connelly? Do you like it when a film’s aesthetic suddenly takes on a life of its own? Or do you simply enjoy the sweeter things in life? If you answered yes to one or more of these silly questions, then I can pretty much guarantee that Labyrinth is a film you need to see.
This is a film that plays at the intersection of dream and reality, between the childish and the grown-up, and between the living and the dead. And how often do you get the chance to see David Bowie play an androgynous goblin king who not only sings, but also walks upside down while tossing babies into the air?
