Where: Cinemateket Trondheim

The 400 Blows was one of the films that marked the beginning of the French New Wave. François Truffaut was deeply concerned with the human condition and demonstrates a rare sensitivity and precision in both character portrayal and depiction of environment. Truffaut does not dwell unnecessarily on what were most likely painful childhood memories, but instead portrays a difficult and harsh upbringing in all its multifaceted, subjective realism. The darker aspects are depicted with humor, the brighter ones with melancholy.
