The feature film Exit by Pål Løkkeberg from 1970 is Norwegian film modernism at its finest, featuring a brilliant performance by Vibeke Løkkeberg in the lead role. It is screened together with the short film Året gjennom Børmark, and the two films share a common thread: the music in both is by Jan Garbarek, who opens this year’s Jazzfest.
Sounds and Silence

Wednesday 6. May 12:00 (FOCUS Q&A with Anja Lechner + Screening)
Wednesday 6. May 17:30 (Ordinary screening)
The film follows Manfred Eicher from ECM Records on his travels around the world and his collaborations with musicians, ensembles, and composers. We gain insight into what defines the ideal “sound” for Manfred and ECM, and how broadly the label works across jazz, classical, and traditional music.
At the 12:00 screening, there will also be a Q&A with Anja Lechner, one of the musicians featured in the film, who also performs at this year’s Jazzfest in a duo concert with Sissel Vera Pettersen. Anja has extensive insight into ECM and its working methods, and has toured worldwide with various ensembles. The interview will be conducted by Audun Vinger.
There will also be a guided tour of Øra Studio for those who are interested.
