Catch these Oscar-nominated films at Kosmorama 2026!

At Kosmorama 2026, you’ll have the chance to see five Oscar-nominated films on the big screen! The lineup ranges from the beautiful animated feature Lille Amelie/Little Amélie or the Character of Rain in the Kosmokids program to the heart-pounding action thriller One Battle After Another (which received an impressive 13 nominations!). After his father is murdered in a gang feud, 15-year-old Kikuo is taken under the wing of a renowned kabuki master. In his household, he grows up alongside the master’s son, Shunsuke, and together they explore the wondrous – and ruthless – world of kabuki theatre. This sweeping epic follows Kikuo and Shunsuke across five turbulent decades, filled with friendship, rivalry, and artistic obsession.

The film is nominated for Best Makeup and Costume Design.

If I Had Legs I’d Kick You is this year’s closing film! Rose Byrne won a Golden Globe for her powerful lead performance in this psychological drama, filled with both dread and dark humor.

Therapist Linda is on the verge of a breakdown. Her daughter is gravely ill, her husband is constantly away, and life grinds to a halt when part of the ceiling in their home collapses. Mother and daughter are forced to check into a run-down motel, while insomnia and guilt push Linda further into chaos – both personally and professionally. Desperate, she struggles to maintain control as the mysterious black hole in the ceiling grows ever more ominous.

Rose Byrne is nominated for an Oscar for Best Actress in a Leading Role for her performance in this film.

One Battle After Another

A paranoid, drug-addicted, leftist ex-revolutionary and his 16-year-old daughter live in hiding under the aliases Bob and Willa Ferguson – though their real names are “Ghetto” Pat and Charlene Calhoun. They are primarily on the run from the psychopathic and pathetic Colonel Steven J. Locklaw, who suddenly gets enough information to track them down.

This film is part of the Reprise program series. In this series, five Kosmorama staff members have selected memorable cinema experiences from 2025. Film curator Mads Outzen has chosen One Battle After Another.

The film has received a total of 13 Oscar nominations, including Best Picture, Best Actor in a Leading Role, and Best Cinematography.

Lille Amelie / Little Amélie or the Character of Rain

Lille Amelie is part of this year’s Kosmokids program!

In this beautiful animated film, we meet Amelie, a young Belgian girl growing up in Japan after the war. A gifted child who often feels misunderstood, she finds comfort in her relationship with the housekeeper Nisho-San. Her first encounter with chocolate sparks a lifelong curiosity, and through Amelie’s eyes, we experience the magic of nature and quiet wonders.

Lille Amelie will be screened in Norwegian at the festival.
The film is nominated for an Oscar for Best Animated Feature.

The Voice of Hind Rajab

The Voice of Hind Rajab will be screened as a special presentation at Kosmorama 2026 in collaboration with Amnesty International.

On June 29, 2024, the Red Crescent receives an emergency call. A five-year-old girl is trapped in a car under fire in Gaza, with the bodies of several of her relatives inside the vehicle. At the emergency center, operators maintain phone contact with the girl while desperately trying to send an ambulance into the life-threatening area. This gripping feature film incorporates real audio recordings of the calls between Hind Rajab and the Red Crescent, making the story profoundly authentic and even more heart-wrenching.

The film has been nominated for an Oscar for Best International Feature.
