Cate Blanchett won the Golden Globe for the titular role in Tár, and the rumour mill is saying that she’s the favourite to win the Oscar. Here she plays the fictional conductor and composer Lydia Tár, who enjoys the recognition and fame she has gained throughout her burgeoning career. However, she also has a dark side - she can be ruthless and manipulative, and soon the greatest living composer-conductor starts losing control over forces that she finds difficult to combat.

No wonder Martin Scorsese has heaped lavish praise on the film and stated that it’s given him a far more optimistic view of the future of cinema.
