The Quiet Girl has a subdued and subtle feel about it, yet it never fails to engage and evoke powerful emotions. With small and subtle hints instead of extraneous words, the film’s protagonist is clearly damaged by her upbringing at home with her parents, but has no words to describe her trauma.

Director Colm Bairéad has made a moving feature debut with a keen eye for detail. Not surprisingly, it has picked up a number of awards at major international film festivals.
