Feature film debutant Graham Foy has created a stylish and atmospheric film narrative that expertly balances realism and fantasy.

With its intriguing atmosphere, alternating between the picturesque and the documentary in images shot with a sharp 16mm grain, The Maiden is a film experience that leaves its mark. It is particularly sensitive in its exploration of themes such as community and alienation, grief and shame, and simply being human.
