The Apartment with Two Women is a sparkling feature film debut about the difficulties that arise when a dysfunctional family relationship is allowed to unfold over many years. The mother is played by Yang Mal-bok, who you may have seen in the TV series Squid Game (2021). Her interpretation of the role is one of several outstanding acting performances in a film that poses uncomfortable questions about family relationships, a film that will linger long after the credits have rolled away.

29-year-old director Kim Se-in won the New Currents Award at the Busan International Film Festival in 2021 for The Apartment with Two Women. The way she brings out the violent resentment between the main characters is testament to an impressive cinematic maturity.
