Paris 13th District is a story about dating, sex and love in the twenty-first century, set in the city’s 13th arrondissement. It revolves around three young people and their various attempts to balance work, sex and love, who happen to be friends and lovers of each other.
Émilie lacks direction and moves from job to job, while newly graduated teacher Camille prefers to avoid mixing sex and love. At the same time, Nora has a tough initiation with student life and the big city when her fellow students confuse her with a famous porn star, Amber. The main characters' stories intertwine in new and surprising ways along the way in this seductive tale of young adulthood.
Renowned director and Palme d’Or winner Jacques Audiard has also co-written the script in collaboration with Céline Sciamma and Léa Mysius. Together they’ve created a highly plausible, beautiful and raw depiction of love in the age of technology. Noémie Merlant from Sciamma's Portrait of a Woman in Flames features in one of the main roles.
Paris 13th District is based on the stories of the critically acclaimed American cartoonist Adrian Tomine. There may have been innumerable love movies set in Paris, but few can claim to be as original and suggestive as this one.
