Ola is 30 years old and lives in a village outside the city of Tønsberg in eastern Norway, where employees and people with mental disabilities live side by side. Here they have their own community, founded on the principles of inclusion, understanding and respect. When he loses an important piece of the puzzle in his life, Ola sets out on a reflective existential journey on how to become more self-reliant.

Ola was born with a mild intellectual disability, which he speaks openly about. Above all, he just wants to be Ola. He also reflects on his upbringing, his family and the safe environment of the village.

Ragnhild Nøst Bergem’s previous film was the compelling documentary about dementia - Vær her (2021). Here she is again at the helm of this distinctly human and uplifting documentary, a delightfully feel-good film addressing important issues such as equality and identity in a heartwarming way.
