Barrio Triste

Medellín, Colombia, 1987: A group of teenage boys steal a camera from a news crew. Barrio Triste means “sad neighborhood,” and the film portrays a community marked by violence, poverty, and lost childhood. Hidden within it, however, are unexpected and uncanny forces.

This unique found-footage film marks the feature debut of acclaimed photographer and music video director Stillz – the fitting artist name of Colombian-American Matías Vásquez, who first gained recognition for his Polaroid photography. Produced by Harmony Korine’s company EDGLRD, the film is distinguished by hyper-creative music from Arca, and unsurprisingly features Bad Bunny, a frequent collaborator and friend, in a supporting role.

Barrio Triste had its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival and quickly became a major talking point. This is a raw, wild film you won’t soon forget.
