This year's opening night film at Kosmorama is the world premiere of the charming and quite literally explosive comedy Alle hater Johan (Everybody Hates Johan), which was shot on the Norwegian island of Frøya.
Read moreJohan Grande is a loner and technician blaster who lives in tiny Titran, at the far end of the windswept ridge line of Trøndelag. The Grande family has never been granted access to the village so he has to share the family farm with the wild horse Ella and copious amounts of dynamite. Johan loves Ella and huge explosions, but the great love of his life is the girl next door, Solvor, who he accidentally “blew up a little” once in his younger days .
Johan is played by Pål Sverre Hagen, while Ingrid Bolsø Berdal takes on the role of the neighbour Solvor. In other key roles we find, among others, John Brungot, Vee Vimolmal, Ine Jansen, Paul Ottar Haga and Hermann Sabado. The script is written by acclaimed Norwegian author Erlend Loe.
Director Hallvar Witzø comes from nearby Leksvik and has taken inspiration from his own upbringing. He has stated that the environment depicted in Alle hater Johan mirrors a small place in Trøndelag while at the same time should be globally recognisable.
Kosmorama is proud to present the world premiere of this delightful local Trøndelag comedy.
