In 78 Days, we get to see the everyday life of three sisters in wartime on the Serbian countryside in 1999. The film is portrayed as a video diary from the girls' perspective. The home video camera captures them doing everyday activities such as putting on makeup, picking cherries, doing homework, or helping with cooking. The fragile, intimate world that the video diary evokes is perhaps their only refuge from the reality outside, which is marked by bombing, sirens, and war.

The story weaves together the perspectives of the three sisters and presents a complex picture of growing up during wartime.

78 Days is the debut film of Emilija Gasic. She recreates the look, texture, and poetry of 1990s home videos with documentary accuracy. The film also effectively conveys how the camera mediates relationships and the social dynamics between people.
