A group of women living in an isolated religious colony discover that over an extended period of time, the men have been doping and sexually abusing them. The men have been claiming that the raping and violence were carried out by demons or the devil himself. When the women gather to talk to each other about the events, it develops into a vital discussion about faith, oppression and freedom.

Oscar-nominated filmmaker and activist Sarah Polley has created a gripping, dazzling drama based on both literature and reality. The film is based on the novel of the same name by Miriam Toews, which is in turn drawn from real-life events where more than a hundred women and girls were subjected to sleep rape in a Mennonite colony in Bolivia.

Women Talking lives up to its title - a story about women talking about being women. It is jam packed with characters as fascinating as the outstanding actors who play them and it has been nominated for Best Picture and Best Adapted Screenplay at the 2023 Oscars.
