In 1944, deserter Pietro arrives in the small, secluded Italian Alpine village of Vermiglio. He falls in love with Lucia, the eldest daughter of the respected village teacher, Cesare. Vermiglio won the jury prize at the Venice Film Festival and has become a festival favorite worldwide. It is Italy’s official Oscar entry.
