Liv Ullmann got her first leading role in film in Edith Carlmar's The Wayward Girl. She plays the 17-year-old Gerd, who has had a bad start in life. Student Anders takes her to a deserted farmhouse – far away from the city's problems. There, they live on air and love until the mysterious wanderer Bendik appears.
