THE TEXAS CHAIN SAW MASSACRE

The film tells the story of five friends who run out of gas during a road trip in the Texas countryside. They head to the nearest farmhouse to ask for some gas. They shouldn't have done that because there they encounter a masked murderer with a chainsaw and his deadly cannibal family.

With a low budget and relatively simple techniques, director Hooper managed to revolutionize an entire genre. Interestingly, the film doesn't contain as much blood and gore as one might expect – instead, it focuses on creating an overall eerie atmosphere. The film was a tremendous success with audiences upon its release and has since become a landmark in horror film history.
