Based on this premise, director Ilker Catak has managed to create an intense, thriller-like film about the life of teachers. At the same time, it is a thematically interesting narrative about the intricate dynamics of the school world. Anchored by a brilliant performance from Leonie Benesch in the lead role, the film crafts a complex and poignant character study and portrayal of the environment.

The Teachers’ Lounge premiered at the Berlin Film Festival last year. Since then, it has been screened at several other major film festivals and has received praise from both critics and audiences. The film is nominated for an Oscar for Best International Feature Film. It has also rightfully earned a place on several lists of the best films of the previous year.
