Idealistic teacher Carla finds herself caught in a dilemma after one of her students is accused of stealing from the school. Driven by her own sense of justice, she decides to investigate the case, taking on the role of a sort of detective. She becomes increasingly entangled in what becomes a difficult and painful situation.

Anchored by a brilliant performance from Leonie Benesch in the lead role, the film crafts a complex and poignant character study and portrayal of the environment.
The Teachers’ Lounge premiered at the Berlin Film Festival last year. Since then, it has been screened at several other major film festivals and has received praise from both critics and audiences. The film is nominated for an Oscar for Best International Feature Film. It has also rightfully earned a place on several lists of the best films of the previous year.
