Director Pawo Choyning Dorji is from Bhutan but has studied in the USA. Influenced by two very different cultures, he casts a curious eye on his homeland from both the inside and the outside.

The result is a heartwarming film with quirky characters and stunning views of the Himalayas. The Monk and the Gun is a sharp satirical fable about cultural clashes and profound upheavals.
