A documentary filmmaking team travels to the Isan region of Thailand, where they visit the quiet shaman Nim, who tells them about her daily life. She reveals that she is possessed with the spirit of Bayan, who has been in her family for generations. It was actually her sister, Noi, who was the latest in line of succession and intended recipient, but she was not keen on being a medium and Nim offered to take it on, leaving Noi to live a more conventional family life with a husband and two children.
