In collaboration with Rive Gauche, Kosmorama presents Krzysztof Kieślowski’s beautiful and enigmatic The Double Life of Véronique. The film follows two women who never meet, yet share a mysterious bond. Polish singer Weronika and French music teacher Véronique live parallel lives, unaware of each other’s existence. When one of them dies, the other feels an inexplicable sorrow – as if part of herself has vanished.
Read moreThe film explores identity, fate, and intuition through a dreamlike and deeply moving atmosphere. Irène Jacob delivers a luminous dual performance, while cinematographer Sławomir Idziak transforms everyday moments into pure visual poetry. Zbigniew Preisner’s music elevates the experience even further.
The Double Life of Véronique seduces rather than explains—a hypnotic and sensuous film that reminds us we may not be as alone in the world as we think.
After the screening, we cross the Old Town Bridge to Rive Gauche, where a meal inspired by the film will be served.
