This is a unique genre film full of distinctive characters. The absurd plot is presented as a pitch black comedy with constant surprising twists. This modern day fairy tale is inspired by the enchantress Circe in Greek mythology, and the contrast between civilisation and the poor, dirty countryside has never been more absurd.
Parallels can be drawn with 2019’s Midsommar, with the wonderfully dry-witted British narrator's voice putting the cherry on the cake, as only Latvian genre films can.
