Louise, Mikkel, and their two daughters are on a sun-soaked holiday in what appears to be an idyllic resort paradise. Beneath the surface, however, overcrowded rubber boats carrying desperate refugees arrive on the small island. Louise and Mikkel believe it is the right thing to do – but their good intentions soon lead to unforeseen and increasingly serious consequences.
Read moreFollowing the intimate and acclaimed Hope (2019), Norwegian director Maria Sødahl returns with another powerful feature. She poses timely questions: What does it mean to be a good person? How far should we go when helping others begins to cost us something? Without moralizing, the film explores themes of xenophobia and Scandinavian self-perception.
