Norge, vårt Norge, i toner og billeder (Norway, our Norway, in sounds and images) is a patriotic tribute to the nation that could easily have fallen into oblivion. This silent feature masterpiece and icon of Norwegian film history was directed by Lyder Selvig, who in 1940 became Trondheim’s cinema director. When Norway Our Norway was first shown in cinemas in the autumn of 1929, there were three sessions every day for five weeks, backed up by an orchestra boosted by opera tunes. The film even made waves internationally, including in Sweden and the United States.

This north to south odyssey through Norway is a beautifully filmed cavalcade of the industries the nation thrives on, such as agriculture, forestry, fishing, whaling and manufacturing. We witness jumping at Holmenkollen and also become privy to scenes featuring legendary Norwegians Knut Hamsun and Sonja Henie, scenes that have remained largely unknown to the Norwegian public for 90 years.

Now the film finally gets a new lease of life with its premiere at Kosmorama, including newly composed music by Trygve Brøske, performed by the Trondheim Symphony Orchestra, with soloists. The presentation of Norway, our Norway is a film concert experience à la 1929 - a festive night at Olavshallen.

The film is divided into two acts, each about 45 minutes with an intermission between acts.

The restoration of the film has been carried out by the National Library, and the performance is produced by Dag Hoel, producer of documentary film Trondheimsreisen.
