Grace Pudel loves romance novels, guinea pigs, and snails. Her life story is marked by misfortune and hardship, taking a particularly painful turn when she is separated from her twin brother Gilbert and placed in foster care. In this beautiful Australian film about self-discovery, she reflects on life’s many trials and the importance of appreciating the good things, no matter the circumstances.
Told through masterful stop-motion animation, the film won the top prize at Annecy, the world’s largest animation festival, as well as the Best Film award at the BFI London Film Festival. It is also Oscar-nominated for Best International Feature Film.
