Sangok lives in the USA and has put his acting career on the back-burner, returning to Seoul to visit her sister, Jeongok.
This film is a beautiful piece of day-to-day poetry from South Korean director Hong Sang-soo, known for his serene, uncomplicated and low-key films. In Front of Your Face is no exception, as he cultivates his minimalist and contemplative style with long and often static shots.
In spite of the dialogue and film language seeming unremarkably run-of-the-mill, Hong Sang-soo asks several of life's most important questions. Slowly but surely, he uncovers the complex relationships between the characters and their internal dilemmas. The film follows them through everyday routines and conversations, culminating in the unearthing of a deep secret.
