The year is 1963. Anne is a talented student at the end of her studies about to finally break free from the same fate as her family, struggling under the harsh conditions of working class life.

She is forced to decide what kind of life she wants to create for herself.
The film is based on the autobiographical novel "L'événement" (the Happening) by Annie Ernaux, and made its world premiere to rave reviews at the Venice Film Festival in 2021, winning the Golden Lion.
