In the well-to-do area of Constantia in Cape Town, single mother Tsidi has to move in with her mother, Mavis, who has worked as a housekeeper for bedridden Madam Diane for over 30 years. While living in Diane's roomy, yet ultimately unwelcoming house, Tsidi becomes increasingly unsettled by her mother's extreme submissiveness and devotion to her white employer. Slowly but surely, the dark truth about the relationship between Mavis and Madam Diane comes to the surface.
