Faya Dayi follows a group of Ethiopians living in an oppressive regime where the only way out for young people is to leave or get involved in the sale and use of khat. Director Jessica Beshir grew up in Ethiopia before fleeing the country. She later became a filmmaker and now returns to her homeland to document the impact khat is having on people and society.
