The school year is coming to an end, and Abel struggles to focus on an upcoming exam. At home, Abel's life is dominated by his national conservative parents, while at school, he is hopelessly in love with his friend Janka, who, in turn, is in love with the liberal history teacher Jakab. Unwittingly, Abel finds himself in the crossfire of the political differences that characterize contemporary Hungary.

Explanation for Everything is an engaging and witty coming-of-age film. Abel faces high and often conflicting expectations from his teachers and, most importantly, his parents, making it even more challenging to navigate the complexities of the adult world.

This is also a political film. In a masterful and playful manner, the movie captures the pulse of polarization that divides many European countries today. Director Gábor Reisz presents the story from multiple characters' perspectives, presenting a nuanced picture of contemporary Europe.
