While clearly a political film about the struggle of the individual versus authority, Costa Brava, Lebanon is essentially a family portrait. The various family members handle the complex situation in different ways with the intensifying conflict also affecting the relationships within the family.

Costa Brava, Lebanon is a captivating feature film debut by Mounia Akl, who manages to spice it all up with surprising elements of magical realism.
