Kjøpmannsgata Ung Kunst (K-U-K) and Kosmorama invite you to dinner and a screening of the culinary classic Babette's Feast (1987) at K-U-K’s wonderful premises.
Read moreIn a remarkably short period of time K-U-K has become a key player in Trondheim's cityscape and cultural scene. Now, together with Kosmorama and the gallery's restaurant, Gubalari, they’re inviting you to a festive, or should we say ‘feastive’, film night. In the actual film, they serve turtle soup, blinis Demidoff with caviar, quails in coffins (cailles en sarcophages) with foie gras and truffle sauce, cheeses from Auvergne and baba (cake) with rum and fresh glazed fruit salad. During the film screening, Gubalari will be serving its own interpretation of these five dishes, and we can't wait to taste them! A wine package with the meal is also available.
Babette is a master chef in Paris, but has to flee from counter-revolutionary bloodshed and rioting in the French capital. She ends up in Jutland in Denmark, where she lands a job as a housekeeper for the two daughters of the village's late pastor. When Babette suddenly wins a lottery, she decides to prepare a delicious feast for her hosts and their neighbours. Babette's cooking skills were hitherto unknown, and she surprises her guests with her culinary specialties, serving the perfect meal.
Babette’s Feast is a film classic, based on a story by Karen Blixen, and it won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.
