La grazia 2

Mandagsfilmen 24 August is La Grazia, which was also screened at Kosmorama 2026.

Italian President Mariano De Santis is known as a restrained and cautious leader. Near the end of his term, he faces a series of moral dilemmas involving controversial pardons and legislation on assisted dying. Yet De Santis himself longs only for a quiet life – mourning his late wife and listening to hip-hop.

Paolo Sorrentino, director of visually sumptuous films such as The Great Beauty (2013) and The Hand of God (2021), returns with La Grazia, which premiered at last year’s Venice Film Festival. While visually seductive, the film is more subdued than much of his earlier work.

Toni Servillo delivers a superb performance as the fictional head of state. His gravitas and nuanced acting align perfectly with Sorrentino’s precise and sensuous cinematic language. This marks their seventh collaboration, reaffirming their status as one of contemporary European cinema’s most distinctive director-actor partnerships.

Every Monday at 6:00 PM, you can enjoy a carefully selected quality film in Prinsen 6, presented in collaboration between Kosmorama and Trondheim Kino.
