A Norwegian-Romanian family moves from Romania to a small town in Norway. They quickly become involved with the local church community and befriend neighbors whose children are the same age as their own. But when the school suspects the parents of using physical punishment on their children, the authorities step in.

Fjord is a timely, gripping, and thought-provoking family drama that explores cultural differences and the fragile boundaries between private family life and institutional authority.

The film is directed by internationally acclaimed filmmaker Cristian Mungiu, who won the Palme d'Or in 2007 for 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days. In the leading roles are Oscar nominees Renate Reinsve and Sebastian Stan, reuniting after starring together in A Different Man (2023).
